MIAMI -- Tropical Storm Danielle is strengthening in the open Atlantic, but the system is still far from land.

ORLANDO -- There were four lightning strikes reported in Orange County, but authorities say no one was injured.

MIAMI (AP) --The National Hurricane Center says a tropical depression has formed in the Gulf and is headed toward the oil spill site off Louisiana.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- A new study shows Miami is the most vulnerable to hurricane winds of Florida's 12 major population centers while Tallahassee is the least.

Work to permanently choke off the oil well that had been spewing into the Gulf of Mexico is at a standstill after ships around the site were ordered to evacuate ahead of the approaching Tropical Storm Bonnie.

Tropical Storm Bonnie has formed and its current path takes it just south of Florida and into the Gulf, putting a halt to the oil cleanup.

The National Hurricane Center's reporting Tuesday that there is now a 70 percent chance a system in the Atlantic will become a tropical depression or storm within the next 48 hours.

Summertime brings more storms to Orange County, which means drivers are more likely to come across an intersection with damaged traffic signals.

A tropical storm that killed almost 100 people in Central America could affect Central Florida's weather by the middle of the week, and could become the first tropical storm of the Atlantic season.
