Now what for Tim Tebow?
Is TimTebow headed for the NFL?
The Florida Gators are national champs. Florida 24 Oklahoma 14.
This was a total team effort by a Gator team that showed why this is the preeminent football program in the nation right now.
Tim Tebow also showed why he is the best college football player on the planet and the one of the best to ever play the game.
Statistically, his numbers were less than eye-popping. Tebow threw for 231 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. The pair of first half picks actually equaled the total amount of interceptions Tebow had chucked all year.
But, the mark of greatness is not about being great all the time--greatness is all about how players react to adversity. Thursday night, Tim Tebow showed the same kind or resilience as he demonstrated after his team would lose to Ole Miss earlier in the season. The kid played like the champion he is.
So with two national titles and one Heisman Trophy in his back pocket, now what?
Tebow, a junior, says he's now going to weigh his options in light of April's NFL Draft. He said after the game that he plans to discuss plans with his family, "I have a big decision to make, but I love being here and it definitely won't be a bad thing if I come back, that's for sure."
What do I think Tim Tebow's gonna do? I have no idea. If he comes back to Gainesville for his senior season, he will have an opportunity to do something no one's ever done: win three national championships and two Heisman Trophies. The kid loves the college atmosphere and relishes being part of the Gator Nation. He's also said in the past that winning or losing the BCS title game would have no bearing on his future. It wouldn't surprise me if Tebow stayed on for what could be a history-making senior season.
Then again, it wouldn't shock me if Tebow packs up and heads for the professional ranks. He has sent in his paperwork to an NFL advisory committee, seeking its input on his potential draft status. He'll have to make his decision by January 15.
Frankly, I find it absurd that NFL analysts don't believe Tim Tebow can walk on water as we all do here in Florida. The consensus thought from the draft-niks is that Tebow will not be taken in the first few rounds of the Draft because he's not considered a prototypical, drop-back passer. The doubters are concerned that Tebow is too much of a system quarterback.
Bull-hockey!
Tim Tebow is a going to be a great pro.
Why do I think that way? His unparalleled will to win, his unique leadership ability, his 6'-3", 240 lb. rock of a frame and his experience of facing the best defenses in the nation week after week.
Sure, Tebow may have to hold the clipboard and wear a baseball cap for a season or two of NFL seasoning, but my word to NFL wisemen is this: DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE HEART OF A CHAMPION!
Then again, perhaps, deep down, you Gators don't necessarily mind the diss, do ya?
Congrats, Orange and Blue, on your second national title in the last three years.
