Just Waiting For A Text
Obama is in Virginia campaigning again today, the home state of one possible Veep, Virginia Governor Tim Kaine.
Most Americans have no idea who Kaine is and that's not surprising. Most people couldn't name ten Governors probably.
Neal Boortz challenged me the other day to name Governors and I didn't think I could get half. But lo and behold, I've been paying attention, because I ripped off over thirty of them, which is pretty nerdy and scary to put it mildly.
Back to Kaine. What does he bring to the ticket? Trust. Evidently Obama really gets along well with both Kaine and the other Governor getting attention, Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas.
"Personal chemistry" is the way that University of Virginia political guru Larry Sabato characterizes it. That is exactly what John Kerry and John Edwards did not have four years ago for the Democrats.
Since Obama has only been in the Senate for less than four years, with almost two of those years being devoted to running for the White House, he probably hasn't had the chance to become real friends with anyone there.
That's why I don't see any personal chemistry with either Sen. Evan Bayh (a Hillary Clinton supporter) or Sen. Joe Biden (who ran against Obama for the Democratic nomination.)
Somehow, I can't imagine Obama texting Bayh or Biden.
OB: d00d WU?
And really, I find it hard to see him texting Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas, who is 60 years old, 13 years Obama's senior.
OB: NALOPKT
Kaine is 50, with three kids (none in college) probably has the best chance to not only know how to receive a text message, but send them as well.
OB: ZUP
TK: URTM
The sun has gone down again. Still no text on my phone. Come on Barack. Let's move the football down the field.
