Comedy Central has been airing The Colbert Report for some time now, which serves as a show that not only offers political commentary, but poke fun at the way America and its Government works.

Stephen, who just last year attempted to run for President of the United States, is making his next big move over seas.


He mocks everything and plays a fake lunatic pundit all the time. But the trip to the Persian Gulf is dead serious, as is Colbert's mission there. In real life, the comedian has taken note that the Iraq War, and its soldiers, have faded in the headlines as the economy and President Obama have taken much of America's attention.

With the trip to Iraq, Colbert seeks to put the spotlight back on the soldiers still over there - all the while landing some laughs along the way.

In addition to getting a shaved head for solidarity, Colbert has used avenues other than The Colbert Report to drum up support for the troops. He has used the charity Donors Choose to get the Colbert Nation to donate thousands of dollars to the classrooms of the children of military personnel.

Also, prior to leaving, Colbert was the guest editor for the next issue of Newsweek, which has an Iraq theme while being peppered with his typical comedic touches.

Since the trip's specific details have been classified by the Pentagon for the longest time, The Colbert Report has made a Matt Lauer-like game of teasing out "Where In The World and When In Time Is Stephen Colbert Gonna Be In The Persian Gulf?" But most guessed that it would eventually be in Iraq.
