A Spanish bullfighter who was competing in the Festival of Saint Isidro was gored in the throat by a bull's horn this past Friday evening. Julio Aparicio, who is one of Spain's most beloved bullfighters and has been competing for several years, was rushed to the hospital under critical condition. Aparicio suffered a fractured jawbone as the horn went through the roof of his mouth and his tongue.

The bullfighter lost his balance which allowed the bull the opportunity to spear him with his horn. The bull was immediately killed by other matadors while Aparicio was rushed to the hospital. Bullfighting has come under scrutiny several times from animal activists and whether or not it is cruelty to animals. However, this sport is loved by many and it is one of Spain's greatest traditions.
