It all started as a physics project. On May 24, 1924 WDBO began broadcasting out of a small wooden building near the tennis courts on the campus of Rollins College in Winter Park. It had monk's cloth drapes as acoustic treatment in its only studio. It operated on 1250-kilocycles at 50 watts with a 75-foot antenna for 1 hour and 5 minutes a day.

Today, WDBO broadcasts from ultra-modern studios, along with its five sister stations, on John Young Parkway. Transmitting from Orlando, operating at 580-kilocycles at 5,000 watts of power with a two-tower array reaching 443 feet, WDBO covers Central Florida with award winning news, weather and traffic coverage 24 hours a day!
