On May 28, 1972, Jim Turner answers an advertisement from WDBO, and in 2004 he wins the Marconi Award for the country's best radio personality! Best of all He is still working after 35 years. Jim started his broadcasting career at WLYH TV in Lancaster-Lebanon, Pennsylvania where he was born. A couple of years later, Jim found a way to increase his "weekly" salary and took a job at local radio station, WGAL, in Lancaster. Later in his career, Jim answered a broadcasting trade magazine ad that brought him to Orlando, and his first announcing job at NewsTalk AM 580 WDBO. In 1985, after 12 years as NewsTalk AM 580 WDBO's Afternoon host, Jim took over the morning show as "the man behind the microphone" leading the station's move away from music and into the information and talk format. He met his loving wife, Emilie, while she was a copywriter at NewsTalk 580 WDBO in the mid-seventies. Jim's interests outside of broadcasting center include high-tech gadgets, gizmos, home fix-up, flowers, his wife Emilie, dogs Panky and Darla and three cats Google, Ginger and Ocie!
