Shoppers turn out early to get Black Friday deals in Altamonte Springs
Although experts are predicting a lower-than-normal retail profit for Black Friday, some shoppers are taking full advantage of the deep discounts.
Slumping economy or no, Black Friday shoppers at Central Florida's big box stores waited in the cold for hours to get the deals, or in some cases, for days.
Leo Fernandez camped out in front of the Best Buy in Altamonte Springs "since 8:00 Wednesday night," he says. He explains that he didn't sleep for those two days, but made some friends, and tried to keep comfortable and occupied.
"We had a generator out, we had little warmers, dominoes, table, everything," he says. "We stayed busy."
He and hundreds of others were waiting in a line four-to-five people deep that stretched around the building by the time doors opened.
Leo got what he came for: laptops for his two kids for $379 each.
