Thanksgiving travel down at OIA, but a big crowd still expected

Although fewer people are expected to fly this Thanksgiving, Orlando International Airport is still predicting a big crowd.
"We're expecting nearly a million travelers," said OIA Spokeswoman Carolyn Fennell.
She says that's a 10 percent decline from last year, but that doesn't mean that travelers should expect to just breeze through security.
On Tuesday, 88,000 people are expected to fly through OIA. On Saturday, that jumps to 98,000.
"So the advice as always is to allow extra time, two hours for domestic flights and three hours for international flights," said Fennell. It is a peak travel time, and with the reduction by some airlines in seats, (travelers) could still board aircraft that are full."
And while flyers may be in a jovial mood this week, Fennel says it's never a good idea to joke about security at an airport. A wisecrack could cause a delay or even keep you grounded.
