If you're looking to eat out without doing too much damage to your wallet, you may want to check out a new UCF program.

Students in the school's Rosen College of Hospitality Management are providing meals at a big discount while they learn to create a restaurant from scratch. Part of their coursework this semester includes offering Sunday brunches.

"One is a standard brunch of $5.95 per person all you can eat," said Jackie Toops, a spokeswoman for the college. "The second brunch is going to be a themed brunch. Different students are going to come up with the themes. They may be a French menu or an Italian menu, and that's going to be $9.95."

Toops says both brunches are a good deal for the public and provide valuable experience for the students.

"The students are doing everything from planning the menus, to preparing the food, to serving the guests, to setting up the dining room, so it's very hands-on experience," said Toops. "So when they go out, they're not just going to have that degree, they're going to have real-world experience they can apply."

The brunches run from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sundays through March 22 with the exception of March 15. Toops says generally 80 to 100 people show up for the brunches.

Rosen students are also providing four-course gourmet dinners at a discount through the college's Distinguished Chef Series. These meals run $15 per person and are offered on February 14 and 24, March 26 and April 16. The Valentine's Day meal will be more elaborate and cost $25 per person.

All of the meals are served in the college's Disney Dining Room on Universal Boulevard. You can make reservations by calling 407-903-8196 or by emailing gpage@mail.ucf.edu.
