Two people involved in an ugly crash on the 408 Wednesday morning were lucky to survive, but they didn't wait around long after the wreck.

Highway Patrol troopers say a Mazda was traveling eastbound next to a tractor trailer near the Goldenrod intersection around 3 a.m., when the driver of the car changed lanes and became lodged under the truck's trailer. Investigators say a motorcycle moving at a high rate of speed behind them then had to take evasive action, and overturned.

The rider of the motorcycle was ejected, and the Mazda was dragged about 300 yards by the truck before stopping. Then, both the car's driver, and the motorcycle rider fled the scene on foot. The biker's shoes even fell off.

Neither have been found, but the FHP says charges are pending.

In a separate crash, the FHP says a 21-year-oold Orlando man was killed when he veered off Woodbury Road near Falcon Ridge Drive. Jared Evans died when his Ford Explorer hit a tree, then a light pole, and then came to rest when the driver's side hit another tree. Investigators say they're not sure if the wreck was alcohol related.
