Poll: Crist dwarfs other Republican hopefuls

A recent poll shows Governor Charlie Crist holds a commanding lead over any other potential Republican candidates in the 2010 race for Florida's U.S. Senate seat.
A Quinnipiac University poll from April 15 shows Crist gets 54% of the vote in a trial vote against any other GOP candidates. None of those candidates registers more than 8% of the vote.
The poll also found 64% of all Florida voters view him favorably. He will face a primary challenge from former state House speaker Marco Rubio, who plans to attack Crist from a conservative position.
The Senate seat is being vacated by Mel Martinez, who is stepping down after 1 term.
What others are saying
- Senate RaceI voted for Christ as Governor, but he is far to liberal to be my Senator. Nelson has already fallen in line with Obama and that is way to much for me.
- I'm voting conservative firstI voted for Crist for Gov, but in the primary I am going to vote for a conservative, probably Rubio. If Charlie wins the primary, I'll vote for him over a Democrat, but his love-fest with Obama in Feb didn't sit real well with me.
