Animal Services to host kitten adoption Saturday
It's raining cats and kittens at Seminole County Animal Services. That's why the animal shelter is holding an adoptions event this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hollywood Houndz in Lake Mary.
"Right now we're in the middle of kitten season, which is when all of the cats are out there having babies and shelters become overrun with cats and kittens," says Diane Gagliano, Program Coordinator of Seminole County Animal Services. "We decided to take our adoptions on the road and give people another place to adopt kittens."
Since this is the first big adoption event for Animal Services, it is going to be special. Food, training tips, face painting and a prize raffle will be provided to attract adopters.
"If this is successful, then we'll do a couple more this summer. Sometimes it's hard for people to come in to a shelter because it just is overwhelming for some people, so if we can bring our adoptions off sight into a calmer, quieter atmosphere, then maybe we can get more people to adopt."
Gagliano says up to two dozen kittens will be available for adoption.
"We'll have every variety available - all different colors, both male and female, from ten weeks up to six months."
Male kittens will cost $40 and females $50. It's $6 more for Seminole County residents, which covers a county license.

- New Regulations NeededUntil regulations make it mandatory for all cats not used in breading be spayed or neutered, the problems remain the same. How about requiring the cat owners to keep cats in the house and if cat caught outside, owner pays large fine. Cats have killed more birds in my area than anything that nature has. Where is the Audubon Society? They should be leading the fight to keep domestic cats inside the houe.
