WDBO has listened to the 911 call from the attempted home invasion in Altamonte Springs this morning in which the victim actually shot and killed the suspect.

"Somebody just tried to break down my front door."

The 911 call reveals a very distraught victim, fearing for her safety as well has her husband's.

"I just heard this loud 'boom, boom.' Like he tried to break the door down."

The suspect, 21 Year Old Donald Salaam, has left behind a host of questions for Seminole County Sheriff's investigators.

"Unfortunately our suspect wasn't a stranger to this type of behavior, but we still aren't clear as to why he targeted this specific house - and whether he was working a lone."

Clark says they will continue to investigate - but so far it appears the victim may have been justified in killing the suspect.

"You have an unknown suspect dressed in all black, wearing a ski mask, who was just kicking in your front door - charge at you. It was reasonable to think his life was in danger."

What others are saying

  • JUSTIFIED
I live in that neighborhood... Thank you for keeping us safe. This could have been a repeat!
  • Innocent home owner is victim
If the police want to look for charges the home owner needs to sue them for not posting a officer at their door to guard their home from this piece of dung. How stupid is this police department?
  • Lucky they didn't live in Chicago
All you can do there is be a victim...
  • Looks like old Donald learned his lesson the hard way. Good for the homeowner. You did the absolute right thing. One less repeat criminal off the streets
  • home invasion stopped.
If home owner had not owned a gun, how many INNOCENT people would have died? Good riddance!
  • "You have an unknown suspect dressed in all black, wearing a ski mask, who was just kicking in your front door - charge at you. It was reasonable to think his life was in danger."

Do ya think? Jeez, how obvious does it have to be? NOBODY goes into an occupied dwelling intending to bake cookies and play patty-cake, they INTEND to beat, murder and/or rape the occupants.
  • Utter shame on you for reporting the story from the criminal's point of view. Headline should be "Heroic homeowner rids county of dangerous criminal"
  • Homeowner is a hero
Thank you for saving tax payers the money of jailing and trying this guy. We know for sure he will not do this again to anyone else. And I put money on no one will try to break into the owner's home again.
