Victim speed chased burglars
A Deltona resident car chased intruders after they broke into his garage.
31-year-old Anthony Andolino drove up to his house on Dalton Avenue Wednesday afternoon, when he noticed a red Mitsubishi parked inside his garage. Andolini said the trunk was open and there were numerous items inside.
As the garage door opened and closed, the suspects: a man and a woman, hopped into their car and sped off. Andolini chased after them with his car.
"Help! I'm in pursuit of a car that broke into my house," Andolini excitedly told a Volusia Sheriff's Office dispatcher while he pursued the intruders. "I don't know what they've stolen from my house, but I need help."
The fleeing vehicle struck a stop sign and kept going until pulling into a driveway of a house on Topaz Terrace where Andolini and the suspect got involved in an altercation. The suspects then fled onto I-4, getting off and on the interstate until Andolini lost sight of them.
Deputies caught up to the first suspect, 20-year-old Karl Castro of DeBary, walking near the Topaz Terrace. The suspect was transported to Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach on charges of burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief.
The second suspect was caught right after the red mitsubishi car sped past deputies investigating the crash into the stop sign. The driver, 23-year-old Jessica Nazario of Deltona was charged with burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief.
Police believe the burglars got into Andolini's house through a window at the back of the house.
