Following the announcement Friday that Sarah Palin will be stepping down as Governor of Alaska later this month, WDBO's Zack Stein got some reaction to the news.

Marilyn Singer - president of the Orlando Women's Republican Club - was shocked to learn of Governor Palin's news on Friday. But she says it may be part of another plan.

"My first gut feeling would be that she's probably thinking of running for president in 2012," Singer said.

Singer says Palin is still a rock star within the GOP.

"I feel that way, and I think the ladies in the club feel that way," she said. "And it's not because she's a woman, but because of her conservative values."

And Singer says Palin is far too popular to just ride off into the sunset.

"If you want to sell something, put her name on it, and you're going to sell it," she said.

  • Palin's Balin'
Someone once said that Palin's ambition is like a jet engine strapped to a golf cart intellect. Hard to steer and very erratic.
  • Palin
We can only hope she doesn't run in 2912, Will she quit just before she becomes a LAME DUCK President if God borbid she won?
What a looser. The GOP can do far better then her
  • Sarah Palin
Sarah Palin is a woman that I'd like to see in our political future. She is transparent and real, not what we see in Washington, D.C. We need leaders with integrity and character, and there are very few at this time. I'm pulling for Sarah!!!
