UCF health officials anticipated swine flu outbreak
"Totally to be expected," said Dr. James Schaus, assistant clinical director for UCF Student Health Services.

"We're seeing the figures throughout the state, at other institutions of higher education. they are all seing the cases, like we are," he added.
The average age of patients with H1H1 is 20, the college age population.
Why?
"Probably," he theorized, "H1N1 being a novel virus, people really have not seen this before. Older people have many seasons of being exposed to various flu viruses, so probably have a little better flu protection."
Dr. Bob Wirag, student health services director, said students are missing up to a week of summer classes in order to recover and that's playing havoc with their studies. It equates to two to three weeks of a regular semester.
"If they have academic concerns, they are encouraged to contact their academic advisor to help them work through whatever their course requirements are," he said.
