Congressman Grayson holding town hall meeting Monday; telephone meeting on Thursday
Congressman Alan Grayson will hold a town hall meeting on health care in Orlando Monday night. He is scheduling a telephone town hall on health care reform on Thursday.
In a release sent exactly 24 hours before the town hall meeting, the freshman Democrat's office says Grayson "intends for and expects this event to be a respectful and productive session."
Grayson says he wants to "discuss the need for health care reform, listen to concerns or answer questions from the constituents he serves, and debunk many myths being circulated."
The meeting will be at 7:45 p.m. Monday at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 606 Union Hall at 820 Virginia Drive.
A union member tells WDBO it is not involved in the town hall meeting, but will have 4 members manning the microphones. The member says Grayson contacted them about reserving the facility.
It will likely be very difficult to get a seat: The hall has a capacity of 125 people, and Grayson's meeting comes immediately following a meeting of the Orange County Democratic Party Executive Committee, also at the IBEW hall. The OCDEC meeting starts at 7 p.m.

Nothing, so I guess I missed it. Either that or they only allowed registered Democrats to call in. That is not me.

It is amazing, even in a forum where they will only have their trumped up questions to answer, we still cannot get access. To answer the last message, if they were telling truths of what are in the bill, that would be OK, BUT they are not telling what is really in it. - AlternativesIt is amazing - we have such a great example here in Shepherd's Hope - it is not government run, it is healthcare run by CHARITY!! Imagine, rather than having government take care we have people in the community who have stepped up to the plate to take care of others. - "It was the only place that was available"That is what I was told by Lisa in Grayson's Orlando office when I stated concern that the meeting should at least have been held in a politically neutral place. I told her not to even go there--I'm sure our high school, and probably any other in Orlando, would have allowed Grayson to use the gym, auditorium, or stadium. Heck, he probably could have charged $1 at the door to cover the expenses and we would have paid. Perhaps we should all send Grayson a letter letting him know of other facilities that are available so he can hold another meeting. So let's see: he knows he is going home in August and his constituents want to meet with him but he doesn't try to reserve a place until this week-end, according to Lisa. Great management skills, huh!

VOTE THE BUM OUT. - We Need To Show UpMy thought is that we all need to show up even if it seems unlikely that any of us will get in. Grayson needs to understand how important this is to his constituents and that we (most of us anyway) are very concerned with what the Obama administration is trying to shove down our throats. In 2010, there will be no "hired voters" trained to recognize his name on the ballot. - A VERY concerned citizen - SCAM!!!!THIS IS A SCAM!!! I went to the Union Hall as soon as I heard about this -- 12:00pm on Monday. The place is tiny, and there was only ONE lady there at the front desk. She said the union office was only informed of the meeting THIS MORNING.
What's worse, she said I could not get a ticket to attend the meeting!!! I had to call Grayson's office (she said her phone's been ringing off the hook)

I would like to know how President Obama says you can keep your present doctor?, On page 17 of HR 3200 it states all grandfathered plans must meet all requirements of the public option plan, year 5. That will force private companies out of business and you will then be forced into the public option. It is deception like this that makes me not trust our government and most importantly President Obama.. Being part of the union has at times been the only way I could get health insurance and I have a pension that I will receive when I retire. The union members and officers that I know are not goons or enforcers; they are simply people who believe that without collective action, individuals have no chance when bargaining with management. If you look, over the last couple of decades, the decrease in union membership (due in great part to a dedicated campaign by big business to demonize them and intimidate workers) has led to an erosion of real wages for working men and women. While wealth has increased nationally, it has become more concentrated in the top 1% and the disparity in wealth is now as great as it has been at any time since the 1920's (also known as the Gilded Age).
