Schools prepare for swine flu
It's the first day of school for most kids in Central Florida, and school leaders are trying to calm fears about swine flu.

Orange County Schools Superintendent Ron Blocker says the district has been working with the county health department since last spring to come up with a plan. He says they'll focus on prevention, education and communication. Blocker says the schools are already telling parents what to do if their child gets sick.
"If they are showing signs of flu-like symptoms, we're asking parents to keep them home because the last thing we want to do is to have to close down a school," said Blocker.
In Seminole County, Superintendent Bill Vogel says closing schools would be a last resort.
"If students are experiencing the symptoms, we'll do everything we can to support them at home, so we're not anticipating that we'll get to that particular point this year," said Vogel.
Blocker says Orange County will also work with sick students so they don't get behind in their studies.
"That automatically triggers a process within the school to get homework assignments and class assignments to the child," said Blocker.
Students in both districts will also receive special instruction on hygiene.
