Industry experts weigh in on Disney-Marvel deal
The head of an Orlando-based consulting firm calls Disney's plan to buy Marvel Entertainment a good marriage.

Steve Baker is the president and owner of Baker Leisure Group. He says the Disney-Marvel Entertainment $4-billion deal will give the company a whole new line of products and stories to use across its theme parks.
"I think Marvel's terrific," said Baker. "They own all their product. They've got a tremendous library. I, actually on the surface, think it's quite a coup."
A Rollins College professor who's studied Disney extensively calls the deal a shrewd move. Rick Foglesong says acquiring Marvel will help Disney attract a new demographic.
"Mickey Mouse and some of those original characters may be appealing to you and me, but, I think, not so much to young people today, and so the Disney company is recognizing this," said Foglesong.
The political science professor, who wrote "Married to the Mouse", says the acquisition also represents a huge shift in strategy for Disney, a company that's excelled in the past by creating its own unique content.
"We see the Disney company kind of retreating to being a platform for exposing audiences to content that was created originally outside the Disney empire," said Foglesong.
But what will this deal mean for Universal Studios which features several Marvel characters?
During an interview with CNBC Monday, Disney President Bob Iger said Marvel characters won't be used in all Disney parks because the company will have to honor existing agreements. Iger never mentioned Universal by name.
