Police say Wade Edwards came to his home on Rafton Road and found the teenager in bed with his 16-year-old step-daughter. Investigators say left the room, got a gun, and shot 18-year-old Julian Harp 4 times.

"At this time, based on the nature of the charge, there is no bond," a judge told Edwards during his first court appearance Friday morning.

The teenager was taken to the hospital, and should survive. Edwards is charged with attempted murder.

In the Apopka police report, the stepdaughter told investigators she and her boyfriend were trying to leave the home when Edwards pointed a gun at them. She went into another room as her stepfather told Harp to leave, but Harp stood still with his hands in the air, pleading with Edwards not to shoot him.

"(The daughter) stated that Harp did not make any furtive movements towards Edwards. (The daughter) stated that Harp was just standing upstairs and all of the sudden Edwards shot Harp several times," the report said.

Harp gave a slightly different account, saying that he was walking down the stairs when Edwards shot him.

Edwards told investigators "as he approached his daughter's room, a black male 'pounced' out at him he just shot 3, 4, or 5 times...Edwards stated that he didn't know who this person was and he was scared, so he just shot."

During the appearance, a judge also read off Edwards' previous criminal history, which apparently includes an assault and weapons charge from St. Croix in 1992.
