911 dispatcher: Downtown shooting "smoothest chaos ever"
When Orlando police responded to the downtown shooting last Friday, they were getting their information from 911 dispatchers hard at work on the other side of town.

Laura Rivera, pictured, took the first call to report a shooting at the Reynolds, Smith and Hills office in the Gateway Center.
"When I picked it up, all I could hear was a lot of commotion in the background," said Rivera.
A frightened woman was on the other line.
"All she could tell me was that they heard shooting, but they don't know what's going on, and everybody's running out the building."
Rivera says within the first 15 seconds, they were dealing with three confirmed victims and more were coming.
"At this point, you kind of think, I do what I can as quickly as possible because somebody's life could be in my hands," said Rivera.
Then one emotional call followed another from eyewitnesses and those who had been shot.
"They're very upset, very hysterical," said Rivera. "A lot of them are very scared. It's weird. You kind of go into that work mode. You do what you have to do."
For Rivera, that meant taking 99 calls in three hours. That's about the amount that a dispatcher would normally take in a whole day.
"It was the smoothest chaos ever," said Rivera, who credits teamwork for the fact that there weren't more victims.
Six people were shot during the incident, and one of them died.
Rivera says she didn't allow herself to exhale until she heard an officer announce that the shooting suspect, Jason Rodriguez, was in custody.
"We just all started cheering, and it was pride," said Rivera. "It was like we helped in that."
