In a sworn statement from 2004, Robert Markward talks about his involvement with Mayor Buddy Dyer's 03 and 04 election campaigns. Markward says he drove Dyer around the city - the two would campaign door to door. He even drove Dyer up to Tallahassee. Markward was one of several Orlando firefighters that were paid their regular wage while helping with the campaign.

It was Winter Springs police who discovered child pornography on Markward's computer. Mayor spokeswoman Heather Allebaugh says the mayor has had hundreds of volunteers over the years.

"Unfortunately sometimes, after the fact, these things come out," she said.

Markward is out on $100,000 bond, and on unauthorized leave without pay from the Orlando Fire Department.
