The Hillsborough County schools athletic director told track coaches they start enforcing a dress code which bans girls from practicing in sports bras and boys from running shirtless. The move came after parents complained last week.
Coaches and athletes says the policy is outdated. Plant cross country coach Roy Harrison says he won't comply because he's concerned about safety. The coach says sometimes the heat index is 105 or 107 degrees, and athletes already collapse in the conditions. He says forcing them to wear another layer could be dangerous.
Coaches who don't enforce the policy could face insubordination charges.
