City Hall had no money in the budget this year for anything but a star that hangs over Orange Avenue.

In stepped two donors to offer trees for the city's holiday season.

Jack Ewing, owner of Santa's Christmas Trees in Eustis is offering up a 20-foot Sand Pine.
Warren Brown and Co. is donating a 30-foot Blue Spruce that will be brought in and installed with the help of Air Tran Airways and WFTV Channel 9, a sister station to WDBO.

The spruce will stand in Washington Street Plaza and the pine will be erected next to an ice skating rink (pictured) at Lake Eola park.

Sponsors to cover the decorating costs are still being lined up, according an email received from city hall Friday.

What others are saying

  • Lazy?
Is it THAT hard to type Christmas? Xmas is a lazy way to write the word and some (including myself) are offended by the spelling using an X in place of Christ. Poor form WDBO.
