Could movies bring new jobs to Florida?
The state will hand out tax breaks in the hopes they will.

They already give incentives to make films in Florida. The idea is to change that to actual tax breaks. South Orange Rep Steve Precourt explains.
"If we were to step up today and tell you we were going to unveil something that was going to create thousands of jobs immediately for Florida, that was going to create millions of dollars of new revenue for the state, and was not going to have any impact on our budget this year, you'd think: 'Well, that's the kind of thing that goes into movies.'"
Film companies hiring Floridians could get an extra 5 percent for filming during hurricane season, and another 5 percent for making family friendly works. The Legislature will take the bill up in March. Precourt longs for the days when CSI Miami is actually filmed in Miami. Here are more details on the House version of the bill.
