Defense attorneys for Casey Anthony have filed a motion requesting that the court declare her indigent and have the taxpayers shoulder some of the cost of her defense.
Jose Baez filed the paperwork at 5 p.m. Friday. He is asking Judge Stan Strickland to declare Anthony indigent for costs, meaning she does not have the money to fund her defense.
Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.
Anthony has already paid Baez and death penalty expert Andrea Lyon $111,954, but Baez said that is not enough to give Anthony the defense she needs, and taxpayers should make up the difference. Nearly $90,000 of the amount was used for Baez's fees, the remainder covered Lyon's costs. She is working on the case for free.
Baez said Anthony, 23, was willing to pay for her defense until the state put the death penalty back on the table, making her unable to cover the expense.
The motion asks the state to cover the cost of depositions, transcripts, investigators, legal research, expert witness fees, medical or mental examinations, travel expenses and other costs the defense has or will incur.

My observations from the media blitzes, the depositions, the news articles I've seen/read, I do believe this entire family and the truth are strangers. First Casey stated that she left Caylee at the SawGrass Apts with her nanny.

If that was true, how is it she turned around and said; once that story fell through Caylee was kidnapped by the nanny at the park?

If Casey and her defense team are really sincere about Casey's innocence how is it Casey has made up so many stories about how Caylee come up missing. Now that she is found dead, Kronk is the next to be blamed.

Ok, if Kronk killed Caylee how did he get into the Anthony's home and steal the three bags, tape, Caylee etc...Without being seen, then kill her, put her in the back of the car. Then he must have mind controlled Casey into protecting the car while her dad attempted to get into the back of it to get the gas can (remember her attitude when dad wanted the cans). How did he manage to take her to the woods with her in Casey's car and dump her in the woods?

None of the above makes any sense.

But the circumstantial evidense and States argument do make sense.

So, for argument sake? There is none!!

I've been thinking about his statement. If you do know,if Casey told you the truth and you have not raised it, you too can be charged with "knowledge" after the fact. Be careful what you say if you truly are Cindy Anthony. I do hope you start being Caylee's voice, she needs you now more than ever!

The wheels of justice are in motion. The fate of Casey A. is not decided within forums or blogs. Anyone's posted opinions or comments are not going to sway a judge or jury in either direction. As it has panned out so far, there has been enough "CAUSE" for government officials and a grand jury to believe that Casey A. is deemed worthy of standing trial of for her participation in the death of Caylee. Bloggers do not have the power to keep this incarcerated convicted felon behind bars or put to death, nor do any bloggers have the power to remove all charges against this incarcerated convicted felon.

Personally, I do not see any bloggers attempting to solve this case. The statement made to that effect is just ignorant. There is a big difference between interest in a case and active participation in investigating a case. In addressing why "hate mongers" don't have anything to say here about other heinous crimes or other convicted felons who reside behind bars pending a CAPITAL MURDER TRIAL. Not sure I would categorize all bloggers here as "hate mongers", and - well having to once again resort to logic in pointing out the obvious: WDBO has set up a section entitled "What others are saying" - that section is provided for people to post a comment in regards to the news story the station has posted, and nowhere in this news article do I read about anything in any other case. Why would one come to this forum to discuss the goings on of other cases? (just makes ya scratch your head).

Okay, moving on...The most important issue is ensuring Justice for Caylee is ultimately achieved. Right now all evidence points in the direction of Casey. If there comes a time when the evidence points in another direction, then there might be reason to treat and view the case differently. Regardless, I do not believe the incarcerated convicted felon here will ever be vindicated of all 7 indictments. Currently the incarcerated convicted felon who is awaiting a Capital murder trial for the death of Caylee has done nothing to warrant credibility, and frankly if this convicted felon was able to - for 2 years - fool her own family whom she resided with and her sibling who knows her so well into believing she was actually going to work every day after dropping Caylee at a care provider – and collecting a paycheck every pay period then she will attempt to play anyone she knows like a cheap guitar. The State of Florida has trained, educated, and experienced professionals who must contend with some of the most notorious liars. There is nothing terminally unique about the incarcerated convicted felon here; she is no different from the many incarcerated felons who proclaim their innocence. After 25 years, Diane Downs who had a smoke screen fairytale for how her three kids (one of which was killed) were shot by a bushy haired stranger.

I wonder why these hate mongers have nothing to say about the Haleigh Cummings case--no concern over that missing girl. My guess is that the handful of posters that post thousands of lies about Casey and the Anthonys on this site have a hidden agenda--they didnt like them before the Caylee situation happened. It sounds like one person is this caylees justice/ justice for caylee/ justice for cayleep--three personalities--wonder if one person can be sued for defamation of character three times becuase of the three names?
To the poster "pammi"--if you think the millions of people in this world will let that happen--you are dreaming. Mourad Balzourt was convicted of killing his girlfriend on the side of the road and burning her body in central Florida and the prosecution did not even consider the death penalty. Second example- the lady in Texas that was convicted of murdering her child by throwing it against a wall and then putting it into a suitcase and throwing it in Galveston bay did not get the death penalty. Third example--the marine that stands accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend and then having a barbecue on top of her and her unborn childs body didnt get the death penalty because he skipped out to Mexico and Mexico would not return him if the death penalty was on the table. Casey Anthony as the whole world knows is innocent and loved Caylee. Florida should spent the 2 to 7 million extra on creating jobs, helping people to keep their jobs and prevent the people from losing their homes instead of trying to execute a beautiful 23 year old girl. The death penalty is cruel and barbaric and has no place in a civilised society--we do not want to be like Iran and Afghanistan that does not care about human life--abolish the death penalty as many of the States already have.

Caylee very well could have died to to an accident or neglect.How do you account for Casey's actions,after the fact? Wouldn't just a call to 911 have ended any suspicions of wrong doing?
I do hope that is the case and not a deliberate act or an act out of rage.Why then would the defense go on with the, some other dude did it theory?Actions can speak louder than words. My only concern, is that Caylee get justice. Caylee along with, HaLeigh,Adji,Hasanni,Somer(although Somers is getting ready for an arrest),Shaniya,Neveah and many others like Jennifer,Natalee,Marion all need our prayers for justice as well.One doesn't have to know these victims personally to shed many tears. One just has to have compassion in their hearts to feel the sadness for the families left behind to pick up the pieces.Which is why a parent should not lie,cover up, destroy evidence, etc. A parent should love and support their child but demand the truth, demand they take responsibilites for their actions and all is forgiven.There are consequences for those actions and you will have to pay the piper.

Cindy, I'm not here to badger or bash you. I am here, posting on this site for the very first time, as a concerned fellow resident of the State of Florida, as well as I am one who so deeply regrets this tragedy that you are all going through. Yet I would ask you, if in fact there are evidences enough to exonerate your daughter, why haven't these evidences been made known to the state, which is even required by law to be so presented.

To All:
I do understand that in our criminal justice system if someone cannot afford an attorney, the court will appoint one. I also understand that in a capital case it is the same - above and beyond it is vital that the defendant have compitent council - representation of someone qualified in accordance to the state's requirements. Lastly I do understand that "incompitent" representation is one of the most common "justifications" for appeal.

Knowing the above, can anyone speak to the following:

-Casey A. didn't even have the means to support herself, then she has a child. Her ma and pa provided complete financial support for her and her child. Then ma and pa were about to lose the farm. Kind of reasonable to think there was no rainy day fund for incidentals such as bail, fines, restitution, penalties, investigative fees, and other miscellaneous capital murder defense expenses. If the tax payers are funding the defense, would this not become public record? And if so, at what point would this record become avaiable to the public?

-Next: To date do you believe that any of the members on the defense team have done anything that could constitute a legitimacy for appeal? NOTE: I am well aware of the Bozo-Stooge show, I am referring to actual legal ramifications for legal misconduct, etc.

I also wanted to address the "Students doing grunt work, while attorney gets paid" statement. I do believe that an attorney often has interns who do a lot of the grunt work in preparation for a trial. Personally, I do not find reason to believe that offering students an internship at her firm is unethical.

Just to let you know, I have struggled with trying to be objective in my study of this ongoing circus...oops, I meant case. I think that is why I have waited so long to join a discussion group. I think sometimes the animosity can block objectivity. Putting my own emotion aside, I truly am interested in understanding some of the more mechanical/legal aspects of what is going on in this case.

If someone can shed a little light on the questions I have asked, I'd greatly appreciate it.

That sounds so ridiculous and incredulous. If the defense has information or evidence that can show some other dude did this to Caylee, why wait for trial? Why would the defense not show the court that they have an innocent person sitting accused, while the true murderer is free? Because they have the one responsible for Caylee's demise. Not sure how or why this is legal; Death penalty Expert, attorney Andrea Lyon, is a DePaul University PAID staff law professor. She's clearly being paid by Casey's defense team, or expects to be..So, how's she able to get her 'grunt work' completed by students?? Aren't these students (or their parents, as in my case) paying for their education? Seems like a clear conflict of interest on her part to utizlize student assistance from her JOB as a professor, and accept payment for "her" services on this case. Am i missing something here?

Absolutely! Casey has no leg to stand on IMO where the 31 days come in... I can't get past that part of the evidence, much less all the lies and cover up that she was involved in. I was referring to all the folks that want Cindy and George charged. Casey is right where she belongs. George and Cindy are on the list after Casey's conviction comes. I think they won't charge them until Casey is convicted because then they have the evidence all out in the open to use for the obstruction and perjury and whatever other charges brought up on.In addition to testimony from George and Cindy under oath to use to catch their lies in previous statements...I think any further charges right now will muddy the water for the main purpose of getting the murderer convicted first and foremost. Caylee has the State of Florida on her side along with all of us who pray for her daily.

As a resident and taxpayer of Orange County, don't we as a community have a say as to what our tax dollars get spent on. Sure Orange County and the City of Orlando wastes our money everyday, but to think that we could pay for the incompetent defense of this worthless POS murderess should she be declared indigent makes my stomach turn.

I was discussing with my 'grown' kids about how much this case has bothered me and how I have grown to really love baby Caylee, and I told my kids how much I love them and how pleased I am at how they are living their lives and the path they have decided to take in life being their OWN decisions and freedom.

They told me if they ever did something so hanous as what Casey did to God's baby, there wouldn't be any courts or prison that could do the harm to them that I could do to them.
