Will Orange County stop sprawl east of Econ River?
The County is set to actually say "no" to a developer.

Rybolt is going before the Board Tuesday hoping to build 5 thousand new homes.Commissioners are telling them it is not going to happen. Orange County, at least today, plans to keep its promise to stop development east of the Econ River. Commissioner Bill Segal told me right development, wrong place and time. Linda Stewart and Mildred Fernandez will also vote no. Mayor Rich Crotty told me no way we're sticking 5 thousand homes outside the area where growth is allowed and inside the precious Little Econ Basin.
"It's an idea whose time has not arrived."
Crotty says move the houses we already have.
In a time when we have about 35 thousand homes in foreclosure and we have given approval to another 90 thousand homes in Orange County that will not be absorbed because of the economic downturn."
Allowing these new homes would also mean a 4 lane road and bridge over the Econ River east of UCF. The fear is that if that bridge is allowed, hundreds of thousands of new homes will follow.
