Radio at Risk: The Issue
The recording industry wants to impose a fee – a performance tax – on local radio stations. This performance tax would financially hurt local radio stations, stifle new artists and harm the listening public who rely on free local radio.

What this Means for You!
A tax could reduce the variety of music radio stations play, and all but eliminate the possibility of new artists breaking onto the scene. It also affects your community. Radio stations are major contributors to public service – providing free airtime to help local charities. If a tax were imposed, stations’ critical community service efforts could be reduced.

Free Play for Free Promotion
For more than 80 years, radio and the recording industry have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship: free play for free promotion. And it works. It’s a relationship that has sustained businesses on both sides.

But the labels–like many businesses–are struggling in this economy. They have failed to adapt to the digital age, and find their business model is broken. And now they want to impose a fee called a performance tax on local radio stations to subsidize their losses. A performance tax would threaten the local radio stations that communities depend on. It would financially hamstring stations, stifle new artists and harm the listening public who rely on free local radio.

  • A License Required for your house
Thinking about selling your house - A look at H.R. 2454 (Cap and trade bill) This is unbelievable!

Only the beginning from this administration! Home owners take note & tell your friends and relatives who are home owners!

Beginning 1 year after enactment of the Cap and Trade Act, you won't be able to sell your home unless you retrofit it to comply with the energy and water efficiency standards of this Act. H.R. 2454, the "Cap & Trade" bill passed by the House of Representatives, if also passed by the Senate, will be the largest tax increase any of us has ever experienced.

  • Radio Tax
Their failure to plan should not create an undue tax on the radio listening audience. The labels need to jump into the 21st Century.
  • Sound Fishy
Might be part of the leftist model of controling the airwaves. Souds like stinking fish to me. Once they, socialists, gain control of another part of our freedom, then the end is near for freedom as we know it.
  • Petition?
Is there a petition started that we can sign?
  • Radio death
Things need to be left as they are or we will soon be in the position of "must pay" radio much like cable and satellite television. Held hostage.
