The bowl season is over, the Florida Gators had another banner year, and the win over Oklahoma should make them number one in the AP and BCS polls. Sorry, Gators, you are not #1 here. There is only one team that is undefeated this year, and in my final poll, Utah is the number one ranked team. Why should they climb over Florida when I had the Utes ranked #4 going into bowl season? Because I was wrong the entire time and no other reason.
What else could or shouold Utah do in order to satisfy the pundits and pollsters to become the champion? They did what no other team in the country did, and that's beat every single team on their schedule. Not as good as other teams you say? They beat Alabama by more points than Florida did. They beat the only team to beat Southern Cal. They did nothing on the schedule directly better than Texas except win every game, and the only other one loss team is Boise State. They lost a bowl game to TCU, a team Utah beat.
I know what you will all say. "Florida would stomp Utah in a a neutral field game." You know this to be correct right? Just like you know Florida would beat Ole Miss on their home field? Just like you know Southern Cal would never lose to Oregon State this year, or Stanford last? This fallacy permeates and spoils college football because so many pollsters use it as their barometer. These "experts" know what will happen on the field before it happens and they know who is better than whom. Why can't we examine what actually happened on the field and rank teams accordingly instead of injecting all of our prejudices throughout? If we look objectively at what happened on the field, there is only one team who does not have to explain away a loss. It is not some pitiful small school from an awful conference. It is the Utah team that dominated former number one Alabama, waxed Oregon State, and beat two more top 25 teams (BYU, and TCU) in their own conference. Sorry Gators.

What others are saying
- i disagree that we should wait to fire bowden. Here's the scenario: we do just good enough to have a game to decide whether we go the the ACCCG or not.. we played well, but poor coaching leads to a loss, and no Championship game. However, we "bounce back" beat USC, and win a bowl game. Now, he would "convince" everyone that we were "one play away" from going to the championship game, etc, etc... same ole stuff...and he stays... We can't let that happen. What needs to change in the the future needs to change today. Get him out.
