Coin removed from man’s nose after being stuck there more than 50 years

Nationwide coin shortage now hitting home (WSOC)

Some people do silly things when they’re young and it really sticks with them.

An unnamed Russian man, now age 59, was just six-years-old when he wedged a coin into his right nostril.

He was “too scared” to tell his “strict” mother about the incident and reportedly later “forgot” about it.

It seems the coin didn’t bother him until recently when he started to complain that he couldn’t breathe at all out of his right nostril and visited a hospital.

A scan revealed that Rhinoliths, or stones in the nasal cavity, had formed around the coin, blocking air.

Doctors performed endoscopic surgery to remove the stones and the coin. The man has regained full breathing ability in that nostril.
