Disney has announced a new project in the works, just in time for its recently announced streaming service, Disney Plus.
Fans at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago this week got a sneak peek at one of the first announced original series coming to the service called, “The Mandalorian.”
Starring Pedro Pascal, Giana Carano and Carl Weathers, the Star Wars spin-off follows a lone mercenary placed on a hunt and, in the words of the Mandalorian (Pascal) himself, “does whatever needs to be done.”
Creator Jon Favreau told a crowded panel on Sunday that he took much inspiration from old western and samurai films to bring characters to life.
Fans were even brought into the film after director Dave Filoni realized they didn’t have enough costumes for all the Stormtroopers they needed.
Here is Filoni and Favreau speaking about calling the local costuming charity, the 501st Legion, in to finish taping scenes:
Disney Plus and "The Mandalorian" will be released on November 12.
