Kissimmee in danger of losing another sports organization

USSSA talking with Volusia County

Osceola County Heritage Park is going to lose the Houston Astros spring training camp after 2016, but now comes word that another long time tenant is eyeing a move.

The United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) is talking with Volusia County officials about moving their headquarters to Daytona Beach, according to The Daytona Beach News-Journal.

The county would have to agree to build a sports complex for USSSA, that includes at least a dozen artificial-turf fields.

In return, USSSA is promising tens of thousands of booked hotel room nights in the first year alone, due to youth and adult sports tournaments staged on those fields.

The relocation deal is expected to be presented to Volusia County leaders in the next 90 days.

According to its website, "USSSA is the World's Largest Multi-sport Athletic Organization. Founded in 1968, USSSA has grown to over 3.7 million participants, competing in 13 nationally sanctioned sports."
