All Florida public school closed for two weeks until March 30

All Florida public schools will be closed for the next two weeks by order of of the Florida Department of Education.  Specifically, all Florida public school will be closed for the weeks of March 16-20 and March 23-27.  As of the publication of this article, schools will return on March 30.

State testing will also be delayed by two weeks and all extra-curricular activities will be suspended for that time.

The announcement was made after a superintendents conference call with the Governor and Chancellor.  The news comes a few hours after the state chancellor of public schools, Jacob Oliva, ordered that any students who travel internationally or go on a cruise undergo a 14-day self quarantine before returning to class.

For Orange County, schools will be closed one additional week beyond their Spring Break and return on March 30.
