Cold snap closes water parks during spring break

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Several local water parks will be closed during spring break because of the cold snap.

Walt Disney World officials said Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will be closed Wednesday and Thursday because of the chilly temperatures.

SeaWorld said it would also close Aquatica on those days.

"It's cold for me," said Lauren Nourse, who is visiting from St. Augustine. "I'm a Floridian, so this is like winter for me."

Nourse said she's taking her children to the Orlando Science Center instead because it's indoors.

Officials at the facility said they have noticed an increase in attendance.

"We packed shorts and bathing suits and maybe like one long-sleeved shirt," Nourse said. "But I feel crazy complaining about 60-degree weather when up north they're having a snow day."

Visitor Gabriella Service said the weather in Orlando was a lot better than where she lives.

"This is a nice change of weather," she said. "Up in Syracuse, there's a lot of snow."
