10,000 pigeons taking part in China's celebration of the Communist Party's National Day went through nothing short of thorough searches before being ceremonially released yesterday.
The party made it clear that not even the birds were free from strict security checks as their wings, tail feathers and anuses were checked for "suspicious objects."
After being re-located to Tiananmen Square, the birds were checked a second time.
A symbol of peace, the birds were released Wednesday to honor the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The whole pigeon-investigating process was videotaped.
