Congressman Alan Grayson on wife's abuse claim: "She's simply lying"

A judge has granted Lolita Grayson's request for a domestic violence-related injunction against her estranged husband, Congressman Alan Grayson.

News 96.5 has learned the judge issued the temporary order while the Orange County Sheriff's Office investigates the reported domestic violence incident.

In court filings, the U.S. Representative's wife  accused him of "shoving and injuring" her during an argument over the weekend, but Grayson tells reporters in Washington the allegations are a lie.

"She hit me, and I retreated. That's what happened," said the Congressman.

Lolita Grayson says her husband showed up to their Windermere home unannounced over the weekend, asking her to speak to him outside. That's when she says he attacked her, pushing her into a door, reportedly leaving bruises on her left leg and shoulder.

"It's not true. It's not an incident at all. It simply isn't the way she described it," he added.

The Central Florida Democrat claims he was trying to visit his children at the time.

No charges have been filed, but the injunction now keeps Grayson from contacting his wife. Lolita Grayson also has temporary custody of their kids and home at least until a court hearing on March 20th.

The incident happened just two months after Lolita filed for divorce, after 24 years of marriage.
