Amanda Soto

ORANGE COUNTY, FLORIDA — The wife of Democratic Congressman Darren Soto has been arrested.

According to the Orange County Jail booking report, Amanda Soto, 33, was arrested Sunday night on a charge of disorderly intoxication,  which is listed as a second degree misdemeanor.  She was booked around 10:44 p.m.

Soto was released early Monday morning.

Prior to her arrest, the Soto's had spent their Easter at Parkview Christian Center and New Mount Zion in Haines City, according to the Congressman's Facebook page.

Mrs. Soto also posted a photo of a bottle of Chianti to her Instagram page later than night from Enzo's Hideaway at Disney Springs, praising their server.

“Thank you for his amazing service, recommendations and sharing of Italy stories,” she writes.

Soto’s office released the following statement regarding his wife’s arrest:

“My wife, Amanda, has for years suffered from depression and been under medical care. In accordance with her treatment plan and under her doctor’s supervisor, she recently stopped using her medications. Yesterday, she drank too much and reached and argumentative state with a family member, which led to arrest. She deeply regrets her actions and takes full responsibility for them. Amanda and her physician will be reviewing her mental health treatment, immediately.”

Darren Soto is the U.S. Representative for Central Florida’s 9th district including Osceola County and parts of Orange and Polk counties.

This is a developing story. Check back for details.
