Danica Patrick going from racer to businesswoman in new GoDaddy ad

Daytona Beach, Florida — After 26 years of racing, Danica Patrick will be retiring from her racing career to work on her other businesses and GoDaddy is supporting the new direction her life will be taking.

During the Daytona 500 GoDaddy will be airing an ad with Patrick engaged in her new lifestyle; doing book signings, exercising and working on her new clothing line “Warrior”.  The focus of the ad will be “Make Your Idea Real” which is a shift from what both Patrick and GoDaddy are known for in their commercials.

Patrick has made 21 commercials for GoDaddy, 13 of which were placed in past Super Bowls, but this is one of the first commercials where Patrick is fully dressed and is not classified as “racy” or “risque.” Many people have criticized past ad spots claiming they were sexualizing Patrick and using her looks to sell rather than her talent.

Patrick says she does not pay to attention the criticism.

“I don't ever regret anything I've ever done. Everybody grows up and evolves and GoDaddy has gone away from those kind of commercials and I've gone away from those kind of commercials,” she said.

It has been 11 years since Patrick first starred in a GoDaddy ad and GoDaddy says, “Our new GoDaddy commercial highlights Danica's aspirations for life-after-racing, and how having a smart online presence helps her attain her goals.”

The Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500 will be Patrick’s final races before retiring.
