ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that happened Tuesday night on Sand Lake Road in Orange County.
7 a.m. update:
Florida Highway Patrol has announced that this crash involves a hit-and-run driver. Troopers are asking for the public’s help to locate that person and the vehicle they were driving at the time of the collision.
Investigators say a vehicle, description unknown, was traveling westbound on Sand Lake Road just before midnight.
Troopers believe the driver collided with a person on a motorized bicycle just east of Winegard Road and then left the crash site.
FHP said an ambulance rushed the bicyclist to Orlando Regional Medical Center, but he died. Investigators have not yet identified him.
Investigators added that the vehicle that left the crash scene might be black, have damage to the front grill, and have broken headlights.
FHP is asking anyone with tips about the hit-and-run driver or vehicle to call the agency at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.

6:30 a.m. update:
Troopers have cleared the crash scene and Sand Lake Road has reopened to traffic.

Florida Highway Patrol is reporting a deadly crash along Sand Lake Road in Orlando.
Troopers responded to the crash near Winegard Road around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Channel 9 was in the area around 4:30 a.m. and saw closure of the westbound lanes of Sand Lake Road.
Troopers appeared to be diverting traffic around the incident and through a nearby parking lot.
