Exchange student host allegedly used spy cameras to record teens in bathroom

A Lake County college tutor and exchange student host is accused of using spy cameras and baby monitors to record students in his bathroom.

Police said the suspect, Lloyd Lindquist, works at Lake Sumter State College and was a host for foreign exchange students at his home.

According to investigators, Lindquist was recording teenage boys while they used the bathroom and shower in his home. The 78-year-old has been charged with several counts of video voyeurism and possession of child pornography.

"We found several hidden cameras," said Jon Hall with Tavares police. "They were actually the spy cams you can order on eBay, online or at local stores."

Investigators said one of Lindquist's alleged victims was using his computer when he noticed a suspicious purchase.

"He had seen where the subject had purchased a spy cam," said Hall.

The alleged victim told police he noticed the spy cam being used in the bathroom, investigators said.

"It was made to look like an alarm clock, but it was actually a motion-activated camera," said Hall.

The student contacted police and they later issued a warrant for Lindquist's arrest.

News 96.5 learned the suspect was working as a part-time tutor and won't be allowed back until his case is resolved.
