A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was hospitalized for injuries suffered Monday while escorting the family of a trooper who was killed over the weekend to the funeral home.
We're told Trooper Kevin Brown, 45, of Orlando, was riding a motorcycle escorting Richard's family to the funeral home.
He was thrown from the motorcylce when he was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of US-27 and County Road 466 in Lady Lake.
The car was driven by 66 year old Mamdouh Zeini, who we've learned is an eye doctor at The Villages. According to FHP, Zeini was ticketed for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. Brown's injuries are classified as minor.
Trooper Chelsea Richard, 30, died this weekend when she was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 75 in Ocala while finishing up a crash investigation.
A pickup truck veered off the road and struck her patrol car, killing Richard, and two others.
