First seats installed at Orlando Citrus Bowl

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and worker Ernest Jones installed the first seat at the renovated Citrus Bowl this morning, as local media was treated to a tour and construction update.

The city is still planning to open the stadium in time for November's Florida Blue Florida Classic.

The stadium work won't be complete until April 2015.

Today, Dyer led reporters and photographers through the locker rooms, conccourse, and seating area.

The stadium will feature 65,00 seats, a 2,000 square foot scoreboard and a 15,000 square foot party deck in the north endzone seating area.

Unlike the original configuration, the stadium is fully enclosed like a bowl.

The entire lower seating area was demolished and is being replaced with chair-backed seating and six inches more legroom.

Entire new concession and restroom areas are also being built.

A new facade to take fans to the upper deck is also being completed, escalators included.

The field will be installed in October.

Jones, a Parramore resident, was able to land his job through the city's Blueprint office, which has helped several people find work at the venue construction sites.

Asked how he felt about his opportunity to help build a facility that will entertain thousands in the coming years, Jones said "It feels great!"
