Florida Man drives a tank around neighborhood in Miami-Dade County

Turns out he was only adding it to his private collection.

A Florida man was seen driving what looked like a military tank around a neighborhood in South Florida on Sunday, prompting questions from curious and concerned locals.

People commenting on the Cutler Bay Social Facebook page wondered if the tank they saw driving around Palmetto Bay in Miami-Dade County.

“WHY WAS A TANK DRIVING AROUND A PALMETTO BAY NEIGHBORHOOD,” read the post in all capital letters.

The post claimed the Florida National Guard said the tank was not part of its fleet, and military expects said it “appeared to be a British combat vehicle.”

According to WPLG Local 10, Miami-Dade Police issued a statement on the tank. They confirmed it belongs to a “private collector of decommissioned, surplus military items.” Turns out the tank was demilitarized and unarmed. It was purchased as a collector item and was being delivered to the owner at the time video began circulating on social media.
