JACKSONVILLE, FL — Former Florida Congresswoman Corrine Brown is due in court today for a hearing on her request to have a new trial, or a judge toss her guilty verdict.
Brown was convicted of taking money raised for a charity and using it as a personal slush fund, and lying on her taxes and congressional financial disclosure forms.
Her attorneys argue that a judge made a mistake removing a juror who said he thought Brown was innocent because of “the holy spirit.”
Brown has not been sentenced at this time. Her hearing is schedule to begin a 3 p.m.
