The lead guitarist from the 2003 hit movie School of Rock starring Jack Black faces felony charges in Sarasota County for stealing expensive guitars.

Joey Gaydos Jr. faces felony larceny and grand theft charges after he was caught allegedly trying to steal guitars and an amplifier four times over five weeks, according to TMZ.

Deputies in Sarasota say Gaydos Jr. would walk into stores, ask to test guitars, walk out without paying, and then sell them at pawn shops.  They say he was caught trying to pawn a blue Les Paul Epiphone Prophecy ($800), a black Fender Stratocaster ($699) and a Gibson Les Paul gold top ($1,900).

Cops say he confessed to the thefts and blamed a drug problem, though he still entered not guilty pleas in court for the guitar.  He’s also accused of stealing an amplifier and is yet to plea in that case.

School of Rock was such a hit after its release, it became a touring Broadway musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
