Parents of students at East Orange County High School were informed that a gun was found on campus on Wednesday.
Principal Heather Hilton notified parents with a phone call about the incident at the school on Columbia School Road.
"A student was found with a gun that was in a book bag. At no time was the weapon used in a threatening manner. The principal and the administration was notified immediately, and law enforcement was contacted. There was no disruption to the school day, and everyone is safe."
It's not known if the gun was loaded or if the student in possession of the weapon will be punished or face charges.
