A Polk County deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after the driver failed to stop at a posted stop sign. Deputies say the driver and sole occupant was 36 year old Donya Leigh-Ann Dennard of Winter Haven. The deputy said he smell cannabis coming from inside the vehicle, and asked for consent to search. As the deputy was speaking he said Dennard became nervous and advised she had a bag of pot in the car. Deputies say they found three separate bags with a total weight of 19.8 grams. She is charged with possession of cannabis and possession of paraphernalia. Dennard told the deputy she is a teacher at Daniel Jenkins Academy in Haines City.
