‘Heartbroken’: Family mourns the loss of 8-year-old boy killed in neighborhood dog attack (WFTV)

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Volusia County family is in mourning after the death of their 8-year-old in a neighborhood dog attack.

They spoke with Channel 9 to share their terrible loss and to call for justice.

Volusia County deputies say Michael Millett was riding his bike with a friend Monday when he went to pet the dogs and they attacked.

Michael’s family is devastated and heartbroken.

His sisters, Skylar Pittman, and Kynsleigh Connell, said the shock of what the family is going through is unimaginable.

They said Michael was an amazing boy with a bright future ahead of him.

“He was just the best little kid ever,” Pittman said. “My heart is just broken into a million pieces.”

They said Michael was sweet, funny, adventurous, and loved to play outside.

“I just love him, and I miss him, and I am going to miss him,” Connell said.

They’re both struggling to make sense of the situation.

The pair promises never to stop fighting for their brother and want the dog’s owner held accountable.
