I-95 van crash kills 3, injures 8, troopers say

Only two of the victims were transported to Advent Health.

The victim found beneath the van is a 37-year-old man.

The passengers, all residents of Maryland, are family and friends who were heading home from vacationing in Orlando.

Troopers rescued a puppy from the crash, turning it over to its owner.

There were no car seats found at the scene of the crash.

The 19-year-old and 4-year-old victims were sisters.

ORIGINAL REPORT-

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a rollover crash on I-95 near Ormond Beach injured eight people and left three dead Sunday, with a 4-year-old child among those killed.

The 2000 Ford van was headed northbound on I-95 before drifting off of the roadway at mile marker 277, according to FHP.

The roof of the vehicle was ripped open from the impact and the occupants were ejected, according to a press release.

Troopers say a 19-year-old female and a 4-year-old girl were pronounced dead at the scene, with a third person found dead underneath the van.

4 occupants were taken to Halifax Medical Center, three were taken to Florida Advent Health, and a 3-year-old was airlifted to Arnold Palmer, according to a press release.

At the time of this report, troopers say that the four victims at Halifax and the 3-year-old are in stable condition, while the three at Advent Health are in critical condition.

All 11 occupants are residents of another state, troopers say.
